The Rotary Club of Hobart is the largest Rotary Club in Tasmania. It meets every Thursday at the Grand Chancellor on the Hobart waterfront. The Club holds lunch-time meetings from 1.00 p.m. to 2.00 p.m. sharp. The Club supports many local and overseas charities and runs a number of annual and one-off fund raisers. Murphy's Creek in Queensland's Lockyer Valley, west of Brisbane, was devastated by flood waters sweeping through the area earlier this year. Some of the most horrific images of flooding were taken at Murphy’s Creek where more than twenty people perished and dozens of houses were swept away.
